Superb Mee Hailam @ Restaurant Wong Dynasty, Kuchai Lama

Kuchai Lama food scene has been blooming with new eateries. Newly opened Restaurant Wong Dynasty is a decent Chinese restaurant which offer amazing steamboat and Chinese dishes. 

The restaurant tucked in a corner lot has an air-conditioned as well as al fresco seating area.

We kick-started our dinner with a pot of hearty Curry Seafood which has one whole huge crab and succulent fresh prawn.

The steamy hot curry is light and robust in flavour, best paired with the plain vermicelli.

Another bubbling hot dish, the Ginger Wine Chicken is the perfect comfort food on a rainy weather. Delicious and tummy warming, I love the firm and meaty 'kampung' chicken and flavourful broth.

The Otak-otak Fried Rice is a dish available off-menu. However, IMO, the fried rice is somewhat lacking in flavour. 

The perfectly Steamed Patin Fish was very fresh and without any muddy smell. I don't usually fancy patin fish, but the sweet and succulent fish is really too good to say no to.

For noodle dish, we are recommended Mee Hailam which was just brilliant. Tangy and flavourful, it is really good and special. Must try!

Last but not least, it's time for steamboat.

The steamboat soup base is boiled for long hours using herbs and roasted pork bones, resulting in intense and flavourful soup.

The handmade meatballs are softly textured and springy. Highly recommended!

We are honoured to have the owner Freddie Wong to host us for the night. If you think he look familiar, that's because he is also an actor who starred in many dramas and film. Friendly and down to earth, he showed us the correct way to put in the mushy meat ball.

In a nutshell, Restaurant Wong Dynasty offers excellent no frills Chinese dishes. Must try includes Curry Seafood, Mee Hailam and steamboat.
