Top 10 Must Try Dishes @ Songkhla Thai Restaurant

Last week, I had a great catch up session with my foodie pals at Restaurant Songkhla which is located in the busy commercial district of Bandar Puteri. As usual, with the recommendation from them, I had a good time stuffing myself with all the good foods. Totally mouth-watering authentic Thai cuisines, from the fiery hot Thai tom yam, brilliantly steamed fish, Chiang Mai curry and lot's of fresh seafoods. Here are 10 terrific dishes I think you must try if you are at Restaurant Songkhla.

The cosy restaurant features a modern and minimalist interior.

1) Thai Tom Yam Superior Seafood Soup RM25 Small RM35 Large
Wow... huge succulent prawns in fiery hot clear broth packed with aroma of fragrant spices and herbs.  What a great way to kick start our meal with the piping hot soup.

2) Famous Steamed Fish (seasonal price)
Next up, the steaming hot iconic steamed fish. Spicy and tangy, the Angelica Root herbs, add a faintly sweet flavour without much herbal fragrance. However, if herbs is not your cup of tea, you may always request to opt out. :D
I forgot the name of the fish we had, but it was amazingly fresh with sweet-tasting flesh.

3) Baked Talapia Fish with Salt RM33 Small RM38 Large
Baked to perfection, remove the salt crust to a moist and succulent flesh. This is one of the best salt baked fish I've tasted!

4) Stir Fried Crab with Milky Butter Sauce (seasonal price)

Crab roes such a delicacy to savour. Generously laden with the milky butter sauce was a perfection.

5) Raw Prawn Bitter Gourd
OMG.... I got my eyes popped out when I saw this dish being served. I mean we are not in a Japanese restaurant right! Such a creative dish, raw prawn served on bitter gourd with chilli and garlic. Tell you a secret, it's my first time eating raw prawn. I was thinking if I should, ooh well, being an adventurous foodie perhaps I should. Gave it a good dip in the spicy chili sauce and put it straight into the mouth, surprisingly it was pretty palatable. Ok, so this is another interesting dish not to be missed!

6) Chiang Mai Curry Prawn
Rich and tasty, fragrant curry broth, perfect to pair with white rice.

7) Stir Fried Prawn with Dried Shrimp & Curry Leaf RM26 Small RM38 Large
Another flavourful prawn dish, however, I find the sauce a tad runny though.

8) Chicken Feet Kerabu Style RM13 Small RM19 Large
Spicy and tangy, crunchy boneless chicken feet was really appetizing.

9) Stinky Bean (petai) Chilli Prawn
I'm not really a fan of 'petai' but this is truly delish, so flavourful with a hint of spicy.

10) Braised Claypot Glass Noodle with Prawn RM20 Small RM28 Large
Noodle lovers will surely love this flavourful and bouncy glass noodle served with decent sized prawn.
Fresh Thai Coconut RM6

ABC, Cendol & Honey Dew RM5 each
Beside the traditional Red Waterchestnut in Coconut Milk and Mango Sticky Rice, ABC, cendol and a variety of fruit shaved iced are available too.

Last but not least, rice lovers rejoice! At Restaurant Songkhla, you could help yourself to unlimited serving of Thai fragrant rice for FREE and this includes unlimited refills of Chinese tea. And there will be no GST or service charges too.
