Gong Xi Fa Cai! How was your Lunar New Year celebration? As for me, I'm so busy with visiting relatives and friends (bai nian) and also temples. One of my favourite temple is FGS Dong Zen temple at Jenjarom. Their magnificent CNY Lantern & Flora Festival is what I look forward to for some insta-worthy photo opportunities. The Lantern & Flora Festival happening for the entire 15 days of Lunar New Year has become a tradition for many local folks to pay a visit to the temple. Check out some of the amazing photos I took the other day!
The FGS Dong Zen Temple (FGS stands for Fo Guang Shan) is a large Buddhist religious, cultural and educational complex in the small town of Jenjarom in the Kuala Langat district of Selangor state. Dong Zen, literally translated in Chinese, "Dong" means "East" and "Zen" means "The tranquil mind". As a phrase, it means "the tranquil mind in the east", representing the hub of a Buddhist centre in the South East Region.
Besides the lanterns, there are also beautiful flower beds, bushes of flowers, coupled with a small bridge and a pond at the Lumbini Garden.
The Seven Jewels Pool filled with waters of eight meritorious virtues from the Land of Ultimate Bliss as described in The Buddha Speaks of Amitabha Sutra.
If you have yet to visit the Dong Zen Temple, you might want to check it out. After all, it is only about an hour drive away from Kuala Lumpur and easily accessible via the Kesas/North-South Highway. FGS Dong Zhen Temple, CNY Lantern & Flora Festival is happening now till 12th February 2017 from 10am to 10pm. Admission is free!
