The Music Run first began in 2014 with the concept of combining a shared societal pastime – music - with the world’s most accessible sport, running. In hopes of educating the masses about reducing carbon emissions, The Music Run by CIMB will embed enhanced sustainability elements in collaboration with sustainable partners, as in previous events, to embellish Malaysia’s first carbon-neutral event for the masses.
The event calls on urbanites to Live The Beat to continuously strive to be the better versions of themselves while championing sustainability and a healthy lifestyle. This year’s edition will present both a 5km Fun Run (for those who prefer to walk, dance or jog on the Sound Track run course), as well as a 5km Timed Run for those who want an official time to qualify for the winner’s trophy and prize money.
Dato’ Abdul Rahman Ahmad, Group Chief Executive Officer of CIMB Group said, “As a purpose-driven financial institution and in line with our Forward23+ strategic plan, we are continuously championing innovation for sustainability across all facets of our business and in everything that we do to achieve long-term positive impacts on environmental, economic and social. We are delighted to once again return as the Presenting Partner for this year’s The Music Run as the event certainly reinforces our collective shared values, which is to increase awareness in adopting best sustainability practices in our everyday lives. We look forward to presenting an exciting running experience, and we hope more participants will join in the fun.”
Meanwhile, Jeffrey Ross, General Manager of the event’s organiser, Fresh Events Asia, said, “After a three-year gap, we are returning with bigger ambitions for this carbon-neutral mass participation event. This year, we have 5km timed and fun runs. Besides giving participants the party of the year with our signature, music-infused finish line festivities, we hope to deliver a meaningful and impactful event for our participants this year whilst actively reducing single-use plastics and continuing sustainable habits even after the event ends. We are also delighted to have CIMB back with us as the Presenting Partner, and we look forward to continue leveraging and building upon our partnership to present what will hopefully be the best event yet in this series.”
Since its inception, The Music Run has gained attention for having the best finish line party and has won multiple awards from The Marketing Events Awards under the category of Best Event. Today, The Music Run is an international event, having been hosted 35 times with over 250,000 participants across 13 countries such as Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, Indonesia, India, the Philippines, Taiwan and China.
Previous editions which took place from 2017 to 2019 saw sell-out crowds of 18,000 participants each year. This year’s edition is poised to raise the bar yet again to be the biggest and best yet.
Following the music-infused run, participants will be able to stay on to enjoy a fun, safe, healthy, clean and alcohol-free experience with the renowned Live The Beat show. Famously known for its main stage showcasing local bands and contagiously energetic performances, this year will feature a showcase of local bands, and guest DJs alongside DJ Sam Withers and DJ Jesse Lawrence from Australia.
All participants will receive a Run Pack containing a limited-edition finisher medal, a unisex micro-dry T-Shirt, a car sticker, temporary tattoos, and a re-usable drawstring bag along with brand partner goodies. Twin up with your squad and collect your Race Pack from 18 to 20 November 2022 at MyTown Shopping Mall.
Ticket sales have reached a new record high and sold over 6,000 Super Early Bird tickets in 24 hours. However, tickets are still available at RM95 (5km Fun Run) and RM110 (5km Timed Run) so grab them fast!

Despite the widespread availability of dedicated Internet, many people prefer to download music files in mp3 format to their computer the old-fashioned way. That's why I use ytmp3 to download whatever I need from YouTube. Video files are converted to audio files because they are well compatible with devices and don't take up much space or memory on phones or laptops compared to audio files.
